Salamanca’s Hedlund named to Big 30 NY roster
BRADFORD, Pa. — The fifth week of Big 30 All-Star Charities Classic roster additions included seniors Salamanca, Tyler Hedlund, and Cattaraugus-Little Valley, Damion Ly.
Also joining New York this week are a pair of Olean Huskies, wide receiver/running back/defensive back/linebacker Nick Crandall and right guard/defensive end Dezmine Adams.
Hedlund is the fourth Salamanca player to be announced for the game so far, following Zariah Armstrong, Ira John and Zach Helms. A 5-foot-11, 175-pound wide receiver/safety, Hedlund plans to attend Mount Union University to major in engineering and also play football.
Hedlund was twice named to the Big 30 all-star team on defense and this year earned Class D co-defensive player of the year. He was also twice named Class D first-team at safety and once named Class C first-team safety. Hedlund said he is looking forward to being a part of the Big 30 Game tradition that so many people look forward to. His favorite memory was beating Maple Grove on a final second field goal. His hobbies include sports, traveling and hanging out with his friends. His favorite football team is the Ohio State Buckeyes and his favorite player is Saints receiver and former Buckeye star Michael Thomas.
Ly, a 6-foot-1, 235-pound guard/middle linebacker plans to attend college and major in healthcare administration. He received the team’s lineman of the year award at C-LV. Ly said he has always wanted to play in the Big 30 Game ever since pee wee football and his brothers all played in the game. His favorite memory was returning kicks and feeling the rush. His hobbies are sports and music. His favorite NFL team is the Philadelphia Eagles and his favorite player is Chris Long.
Joining Pennsylvania’s team are Bradford center/middle linebacker Kevin Ackerman, Port Allegany wide receiver/linebacker Isaac Smoker, Sheffield guard/defensive tackle Nicholas Knowles and Johnsonburg fullback/middle linebacker Evan Furlong.
