Salamanca Youth Football Programs Continue To Advance Coaching Education

The Salamanca youth football programs enrolled in USA Football’s 2019 Heads Up Football program to advance player safety by providing coaching education and teaching resources that benefit players, parents and coaches while maximizing the youth football experience.

USA Football, the sport’s national governing body, educates more youth and high school coaches combined than any organization in the United States.

All Salamanca coaches will be trained in Heads Up Football techniques before leading their teams this season. Saber and Warrior head coaches and assistant coaches will complete USA Football’s accredited Tackle 1 Coach Certification Course, which includes Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) concussion recognition and response protocols; sudden cardiac arrest protocols; proper helmet and shoulder pad fitting; heat and hydration information; as well as Shoulder Tackling and blocking techniques.

USA Football, as part of its Heads Up Football program, also conducted a Certification Clinic on May 19th, at Ralph Wilson Stadium, hosted by the Buffalo Bills. The clinic was an opportunity for coaches to complete USA Football’s medically endorsed program in-person. Several Salamanca Saber coaches were in attendance.

Through Heads Up Football, coaches will be trained by USA Football to implement, evaluate and monitor player safety protocols within the youth organizations. Coaches are now trained to ensure that player safety best practices are used throughout the fall.
