Youth coaches selected to Project Play - Western New York Honor Roll
Project Play of Western New York has selected several Salamanca youth football coaches to their 2019 Honor Roll program. Project Play is driven and funded by the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation’s Youth Sports & Recreation focus area in partnership with the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo and the Aspen Institute Sports & Society Program.
"Coaching kids goes beyond simply winning games - it’s also critical to develop each athlete. As a coach, if you are able to focus on the social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs of the whole child, you can help youth athletes feel safe and supported, and foster important traits such as responsibility and perseverance, and guide them in building an emotional foundation for success."
Jason Wass and Kameron Scott were selected from the Salamanca Warriors Youth Program staff. The Warrior pee wees finished the 2019 season 9-0 and CCMFL "Super Bowl" Champions, defeating Ellicottville for the top prize.
Seth Hostuttler, Darren Ross and Greg Herrick were selected as honor roll recipients for the Salamanca Sabers midget football program. The Sabers finished the 2019 season at 7-2 and CCMFL runner up.
All area recipients will be honored at the November 3rd Buffalo Bills home game against the Washington Redskins.
